Project Overload: Before and Afters

Here's a peak at a few projects I've done since the first of the year. I have to admit, I'm terrible at documenting all the steps.  I get so into what I'm doing that I forget to take pictures of everything.  But I did want to share some of my favorite small projects with you. Take a look...........

These are the night stands I purchased at the annual Peaches to the Beaches yard sale in March

I only paid $25.00 for the pair!  Too good of a deal to turn down and I'd been on the hunt for some.

I found these neat pieces of paper under one of the drawers. I'm thinking of framing them to use in my decor.  One is a list of furniture items and the prices. The other looks like something from betting on a horse race.  So interesting!

And here is what they look like now!  I had just finished them and put them in our room when I took this photo, so they aren't styled here. But I found two matching baskets at Michael's that were on sale for 50% off, so they added even more much needed storage for us.

I just had to have this cute vintage dental cabinet.  It was also purchased at the Peaches to Beaches yard sale this year.

We cleaned it up a little (I didn't want to knock off too much rust 😁) and then lined the insides of the drawers with contact paper. It's the perfect piece to store linens and extra baskets and such.

The chalk board you see in the picture with the dental cabinet was actually made from this old framed print.  I found it at a thrift store for just a few dollars.  I taped off the wood frame and sprayed the print with chalkboard paint. After that, I used white chalk paint to cover the wood frame. I left the antique gold trim for contrast.

I love how it turned out!  I had been wanting a chalkboard in my kitchen for a while. It's so fun having something to write Bible verses or seasonal text on!

Have you ever noticed those little silver trays in the Dollar Tree stores?

I had acquired several of them and decided to do a fun project using them on the wall above my bed.

After I aged them, I added white satin ribbon as hangers and hung them over our bed.
I love the way it turned out!

Look at this hot mess of a closet! This is what our hall closet looked like. Believe it or not, it used to be nice and organized, but it quickly got out of hand with seasonal decor items.

This cute little chifforobe was in Dillan's nursery when he was a baby. I want to keep it to organize decor and craft items, but I moved it to another room.

The goal for this hall closet was to make it an extra pantry for overstocked items/supplies, so we purchased shelf board and brackets from Home Depot for this project.

I painted them all a nice coat of white so they would be easy to wipe down when cleaning.

It looks like I don't have a left arm in this picture...lol!

I'm so thankful for the Mister. If I had to do all these type projects by myself, I would probably still be working on it!  But after I painted the shelves and they were dry, it didn't take him long at all to put the shelves in. We're really enjoying this space and with these sturdy shelf boards, everything is secure and well organized.

One of my funnest little projects lately is transforming these ugly bar stools. I had thought about buying some new ones, but then I found the perfect solution for them....and way more affordable than new stools.

I was on Instagram one night and noticed these adorable stool covers from Decor Steals. I ordered them right away and am very pleased with the quality. They fit perfectly too!

I brushed on a base coat of my favorite white paint.

And then sprayed them in the same color for a smooth finish.

Aren't they the cutest? I'm so happy with how they turned out!

Well, that's about it for now. There's always a project or two in the works around here, but it's a busy time of year. That means projects go on hold as we approach the holidays. Because then there's tons of decorating to do!  My home is currently decked out for fall, but I'm already excited to spread some Christmas cheer around here. I've been browsing Pinterest and holiday magazines for more inspiration and I can't wait to share what I come up with.
