Using Stencils for Farmhouse Decor

Recently, I was contacted by Stencil Revolution  about doing a collaboration with them using their products. It's been a while since I did a good stenciling project, so I was eager to use their products to add a little more farmhouse charm to my home.

I chose the 8 1/2 x 11 Country Fresh Produce and a 5 x 6 Farm Fresh Eggs and received them very quickly in the mail.  They're excellent quality and I'll get multiple uses out of them if needed.

The only thing I had to purchase for the projects was paint and brushes.

I've had this old vintage planter for YEARS!  It's always looked like it needed a little extra something, so I decided to do a stencil on the front of the top portion.

I centered the text, using tape to hold it in place.

Then I used a brush to add the paint. On this particular stencil, I couldn't find my stenciling brushes, so I just grabbed a small paint brush for the job. A word of advice....don't get impatient like me and use a regular brush unless you are prepared to do some clean up where the paint runs out of the lines. This is no fault of the stencil.....just what you get when you don't apply the paint the correct way.

I also stenciled the corner designs on each end.

After a little cleaning up the edges, I distressed it a little to help make it look like it's been on there for years.  I love the way it turned out!  Perfect farmhouse charm, if you ask me! 😊

I had just recently moved this piece into the dining room corner and I love it there.

For the smaller stencil, I chose to paint a small block of white washed wood that I could use in multiple ways around my kitchen. Small decorative items like this are really cute on open shelving, coffee bars, tiered trays, and other vignettes.

Because I used the appropriate brush to paint it, no clean up was needed.  It turned out perfectly!

After distressing it a touch, it's now ready to be proudly displayed on my kitchen shelves.

If you've never tried using a stencil, I highly recommend it for small projects like this. Be sure to check out Stencil Revolution for all your stenciling needs. They have so many great designs to choose from and their staff are very friendly and helpful.
