Think Pink for a Valentine's Tablescape

What better time to use pink than at Valentine's Day?  While red is the traditional color to celebrate the day of LOVE, I was a little tired of red from Christmas.  I'm also craving spring and pretty pastels, so pink was my color of choice this year.

I'm a big fan of using what you have on hand before going out just to purchase something new. Another way I save on decorating is to take frequent thrifting trips to purchase home decor items.  So while I had not originally planned to do this table, it was super easy to shop my house for items I needed to put this together.

I started with a beautiful white brocade table cloth.  Then I made a flower garland to drape across the entire table for a soft, romantic look.  I store various artificial flowers to reuse around the house, so I had these beautiful white and pink stems from Michael's on hand.  I also had a couple of small pink rose garlands from a photo shoot a few years ago.  Together, they made a pretty Valentine's flower garland for my breakfast room table.

I have a beautiful set of white everyday plates that were purchased years ago at an after-Christmas sale. I love to use them because they are perfect to decorate for any season or holiday.  Placed on woven chargers and topped with thrifted white heart plates and pink dogwood cloth napkins and my table scape was basically done.  I added pink hearts purchased at the Dollar Tree to the garland and baked some pink and white Pillsbury heart cookies to place on each plate to add a pop of color. On the center of the table, I placed my glass candlesticks and white tapered candles to complete the look

This table would be perfect for a romantic evening for two, a brunch with your best girlfriends, or just a simple family meal. So if you're on the fence today about whether to do a special table for Valentine's Day, I say go for it!  Look around your house and use what you have on hand.  You'll be surprised at what you are able to put together!
