Small Styled Spaces and Organization

Not everyone has the luxury of living in a large space, but regardless of the size of your home, you can live more efficiently by making wise use of every area and keeping things neat and organized.

During the month of June, Kate Keesee (@salvedior on Instagram) organized a Small Styled Spaces and a Small Styled Organization board on her Pinterest.  A group of us had collaborated with her before for a couple of summer series boards, (you can find those on her Pinterest also), so when she asked me to contribute to these boards as well, I was excited to do so!

For anyone who knows me, you know how much I love to organize!  I'm a complete nerd about it at times.  But while my home is organized (I do still have a couple of....ahhmm...problem areas), not all of that organization is attractive.  It's functional, but not attractive enough for photos in my opinion, so I wasn't quite sure what to share at first.  But after a little thought, I came up with three areas of my home that offer not only organization, but look pretty as well.  Take a look...........

I really like having a foyer when you enter the front of my home. It's perfect for greeting guests and offers a place for them to leave their coats, as well. My foyer is very narrow, so much so that I can't get a picture of the entire thing at this angle.  But you can tell from here, there's a place to hang coats or purses and even leave your shoes, if you so wish (certainly not a requirement in my home).

I also love this beautiful vintage piece in the middle of the foyer. Not only does it give me a great place to display decor, it offers two drawers and cabinet storage for things that I need conveniently located at a moment's notice.

Another great piece of furniture is small in nature, but boy does it provide lots of room for my favorite books!  This little bookshelf was actually a gun cabinet that belonged to my daddy.  I've shared the before and after project of it before, so for all of those details, just click here.

Unfortunately, I don't have alot of extra wall space in my bedroom, but I needed somewhere to house my favorite books for easy reach.  This old gun cabinet was the perfect solution.  I still love how it turned out!

We also have a bonus room above our garage.  I'm so thankful that I insisted on doing this room because it's the perfect place for our music and exercise equipment.  It's a fun, kwirky room, so when we had to store some extra furniture for my son, I made wise use of this vintage chest of his.  To the side of the stairwell was a perfect spot for storage. This adorable chest fit perfectly in the space and now holds music equipment and a few more modern pieces of decor from my son's first apartment.

This is just a few ideas of how to style and organize small areas.  So what do ya think?  Have you come up with some ideas of your own you'd like to share?  I'm all ears!  Also, be sure to check out Kate's Pinterest boards to see all of the inspiration from the other contributors.
