She's got legs!

Well, we finally got around to getting a flat screen television.  I knew we would have to eventually.  When we moved here 5 years ago, we already had a television that was working just fine, so we decided to continue to use it.  We did, however, need a new entertainment center at the time, especially since our new living room had a cathedral ceiling.  So we looked around and found this one for a great price at a second hand store that fit the space well.

I loved the piece and it served it's purpose well, but in order to get a large flat screen, we'd have to find another entertainment center.  So the search began.  I knew I wanted something in the way of an old buffet or dresser that could be converted for television use.  So Scott and I set out one Saturday morning to see what we could find.

We went to an antique mall we'd never been to before and found several pieces that would work.  But I fell in love with this one!
Sorry for the pic quality....taken with my phone in the store

This beautiful piece was a former buffet and someone had already done the hard work of converting it into an entertainment center.  Yay for us!  They had taken the tall legs off of it and removed the top middle drawer.  They encased that area with wood and it's the perfect spot for the components.

But there was one thing that I didn't like about the piece.....the short legs.  As I mentioned, the wall it was going on was a large wall with a cathedral ceiling.  I felt like the television would look funny sitting down that low, but we could remedy the situation very easily.  Just remove the legs and replace them!

So we went to Home Depot, found the legs we needed and stained them to match the piece.  That simple :)

Here's a picture to give you an idea of the size of the wall.  See what I mean?  But I think we did a good job. What do you think?
