Think about such things

In a day and age when it seems there is more that is wrong in the world than is right, it’s easy to let discouragement set in.  We turn on the television and hear story after story of bad news.  News agencies seem to be more concerned with selling hype than seeking truth.  Evidence of the selfish nature of man is evident all around us.  Individuals and groups alike are more interested in their own selfish wants and desires than compromising for the greater good of others.

As Christians, we can sometimes feel that we are fighting a losing battle in our efforts to reach the lost for Christ.  But we must remember that we are not in this alone.  God is on His throne and is aware of everything that is happening in this world.  He has a plan and He is in complete control regardless of how things look through our earthly eyes.  We must lift our heads in times of discouragement and look to Him to not only meet our needs, but to give us the strength and endurance to bare our burdens.

Philippians 4:8 gives us instruction for the times when we feel overwhelmed and ineffective for Christ. 
Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things” 
When we dwell on these things, the peace of God that passes all understanding will guard our hearts and give rest to our minds as we seek to do His will and make a difference for Christ in our communities, in our country, and around the world.
