God-inspired dreams

I just looked at my calendar and couldn’t help but wonder where this year has gone.  With the start of each New Year that we ring in, I also turn another year older within the same month.  Because of this, I think I tend to set goals for myself with more urgency.  Maybe it’s because I know I have some wasted years to make up for.  Maybe I’m just mindful that my time on earth is limited.  But more than likely, it’s because I’m a dreamer.

Not only am I a dreamer, but I believe in God-inspired dreams.  More importantly than that, I believe in the Dream Giver.

I know that God has called each of us according to His own purpose.  Ephesians 2:10 reminds us: “For we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do”.  He has a specific job for each of us - a particular job that no one can do better than us.  If that job’s not done, then not only is our world affected, but we are affected as His children….and we are missing out on a blessing.

The job I’m referring to is not necessarily the one that we draw a paycheck from.  It’s our calling.  The reason we were created.  Your calling may be to be a school teacher.  Maybe it’s a professional athlete or a writer.  Maybe you’ve always dreamed of owning your own business.  The possibilities are endless!

I’ve learned it’s the thing that brings you the greatest fulfillment and causes you to feel alive.  It’s your passion and it allows you to make a difference for Christ in this world.  It’s your God-inspired dream and He equips you to do it.

Are you chasing your dream?  Do you dare to believe that your dreams are inspired from the God of the universe, the God who created you and breathed life in you?  Do you trust Him to help you?

I encourage you to open your heart to your God-inspired dreams.  Take a look at the possibilities that exist within you and trust Jesus to guide you along the way.  You were made for so much more than you can imagine!
