Mother's Day and family reunions

Mother's Day weekend was a busy time around here!  We usually celebrate with a Sunday lunch at my mama's.....very seldom going to a restaurant.  I guess it's because we like to be able to relax and chat about anything and everything.  Truth be known, we probably get a little too loud to be in a public place for any length of time!  It's nothing to have three or four conversations going on at the same time in one room.  Yes...we're a chatty bunch ;)

My baby sister, Shaana, doesn't usually make it home from Raleigh for Mother's Day.  It's just too long of a drive!  Thank goodness for phones, Skype, blogging, and Facebook!  It sure makes the miles seem a little less in between.

I love being a mama!  I especially love being a mama to this sweet boy!

He makes it easy!  And for that, I am very thankful!!!  I'm enjoying having him home for a little while this summer.  He worked really hard his first year of college and I think he deserves this much needed break!  We found him a loft apartment in downtown ATL and will move him in next month, but I'm sure he'll come home a good bit more while he's got so much free time.  We've also scheduled a beach trip in June, so we will all be able to get away and relax for a few days.

Some of us are still in school :(  Yes...I'm still working on my masters.  I haven't talked about it much on here, but it's going very well.  Much easier going part-time than maintaining a full time school schedule along with full time work!  So far, I've got A's in all of my class....yay!

It's ironic that I came across a box full of baby memories over Mother's Day weekend as well.  Dillan's baby book is full of writings, notes, and mementos.  I didn't want to forget a single thing so I basically documented everything he did.  Too bad we didn't have blogs back then.  I would have loved to have all of that right at my fingertips!

Dillan's first photo :)

Every Mother's Day weekend, we also have the Walker family reunion.  This is my mother's side of the family.  I've not been to the reunion in several years, but decided to make it a priority to go this year.  I'm so glad I did!  I got to see one of my cousins that I haven't seen since we graduated from high school!

Christy is a very special person to me.  I have many fond memories of our high school years....we actually graduated together.  I didn't know her very well when we were little, but it's nice to know that family members can also make great friends.  I decided a LONG time ago that family was the most important thing to me here on earth after my relationship with Jesus Christ.  That comes pretty easy when you come from a family deep seeded in the Christian faith.  I'm so thankful that I was born and grew up in a two-parent, Christian home.  I don't know where I'd be today if that had not been the case.

I hope all of you had a good Mother's Day weekend as well and enjoyed spending time with your family.  Let me leave you with this picture I saw on Facebook recently:

Love this!
