where stuff gets clean!

In the last year or so, I finally got around to making my laundry room a little more efficient...and decorative.  Why not make it cute?  We spend enough time in there, don't we?

Anyway, Kelly is hosting Show Us Your Life - Laundry Rooms this week and I thought it would be fun to join in the fun.  I've definitely enjoyed my time in here more since I made these changes!

I decided to get rid of the ugly boxes of laundry detergent and cleaners and use the glass/plastic jars I had on hand.  Not only does it look better, it's alot more convenient.

Keeping with the basket theme, I keep Lucy's things hid away but conveniently at hand.  The picnic basket holds her clothes and blankets.  Bath and grooming supplies, as well as medication and treats, are also within reach on this shelf.

Lucy used to stay in this small room during the day when we were all away from the house...hence the bed and toys. I guess that's how this space became her little area for the most part.  The noise of the washer and dryer have never bothered her.

I actually completed the wall decor later (the reason some of these pics have borders).
I already had the "Laundry Room" picture but wanted to personalize the area a little more in honor of our furry little daughter.  So I decided to go with the same color scheme used in the picture.

I bought a small wood shelf at Hobby Lobby and Scott stained it for me.  I knew I wanted to put a picture of her on the shelf, so I selected her "baby picture" :)  Doesn't she look like an Ewok? The giraffe was her very first toy.  She has a basket full of toys, so I picked a few to display on the shelf with the picture.

And just look at the cute "L" wooden letter than my sister gave me for my birthday!  My name starts with an "L", but she gave it to me for Miss Lucy's room.  I painted it a rustic red and used a pencil eraser and tan colored craft paint to add the dots.  I love the end result!
