thrifty treasure hunting

A couple of Saturday mornings ago, I called my mom early that morning and informed her that I was coming to pick her up.  We were about to embark on our first "thrifty treasure hunt" in our very own small town!

In just a short amount of time, we have not only one, but two, thrift stores in town.  I had never been to either but was itching to see just what they had to offer. I love finding old furniture to redo and other items for my home!

My main goal was to find a mirror to redo for my master bedroom.  I was also hoping to find some more accessories to complete that room makeover....and I did!

Here's my treasures...minus the mirror....

I found three items at the first shop.....

I'm not sure what you call this....maybe a wine carrier?  But I thought it was so cute!  I was looking for a couple of items with some height to put on top of the dressers.

And look at this cool wood vase!  Love it!

Here's a shot of the mirror I found.  Scott is going to sand it down and stain it with a chocolate colored stain.  It will be hung above one of the dressers....but it will be hung opposite of how it's standing here.

I found a few other things at the second shop....

Loved these! They will be redone to match the mirror and hung on either side.

These little ceramic quail were eye catching too.
Can't you just see them resprayed to match?  Maybe white?

Owls are all the rage now.  I've had two ceramic ones for years and I've decided to add a few more to make a nice collection.  I thought this cute little pair would look pretty good with a little spray paint as well.

I picked up some spray paint and got right to work on my little bird treasures:)

Here they are all finished.  I sat them on this rock to move them into the garage without touching them numerous times.  When I looked at this picture, I instantly thought the rock would be a good way to display the quail.  When Scott saw it later that day, he said the same thing..lol! That's pretty unusual cause he's not much into home decor..ha ha!
All together I spent around $30.00...and that included three other items for my mom: two glass jars and a chalkboard sign.  So I would say we had a successful day "thrifty treasure hunting" :)

Well, I've just about got everything I need to complete our master bedroom.  It's been a work in progress for a while! I had just gotten to a stand-still a while back and was uninspired for a while.  But I'm on a roll now and I can't wait to show you the end result !
