a summer vignette

My family and I just returned from our beach vacation.  Prior to leaving for our trip, I decided a beach theme would be appropriate for my new foyer vignette.  I like to change things up a bit with the seasons...and the beach was on my mind!

What better piece to start with than a glass bowl full of sea shells...all shapes and sizes.

A wood pelican, homemade hurricane lamp filled with shells, and a framed summer postcard complete this part of the vignette.  The framed post card is of one of my favorite Bible verses: Psalm 46:10 - "Be still and know that I am God".

In keeping with nature's simplicity, the shelves hold a few other items that remind me of the beauty of God's creations: a candle holder made of sea shells, a piece of an antler laid across a beautiful round stone, and a ceramic eagle.  I also added more sea shells to the beautiful glass jar after these pictures were taken.  I bought this jar at Hobby Lobby....my favorite store!

Before I know it, summer will be gone and I'll be swapping things out again.  But for now, I'll enjoy the lazy and simple days of summer through this little vignette in my foyer and be reminded of the sweet memories made on our family vacation at the beach :)

I'm joining the party today at Table Top Tuesday

I'm stopping by for a visit from Kelly's Korner today.
You have a beautiful entryway into your home. I wish we had kept some of the many seashells and sand while living in San Diego. We miss it so much now that we live in Las Vegas!
I really enjoyed my visit to your blog. Have a wonderful week.
