Our "Whistle Stop Cafe" anniversary lunch

I recently mentioned to Scott that there are so many places in the state of Georgia that I have never been.  I told him that we should take some Saturday road trips across the state this summer to see places like the Whistle Stop Cafe in Juliette - home of the movie, "Fried Green Tomatoes".

He agreed and suggested this as our first little road trip to celebrate our 11 year wedding anniversary.
So late this morning, we headed out to Juliette.

They were extremely busy so we sat at the counter with others instead of at a table.

I knew before we got there what I wanted.

Fried Green Tomatoes and sweet tea to get started!

and then a Fried Green Tomato sandwich!
with lettuce, bacon, and cheese!

here's a closer look:
It was very yummy!  And yes, I know it's not gluten-free...
but it was my anniversary, y'all.  Rules go out the window when you are celebrating;)

Scott had the country fried steak with mashed potatoes and grilled squash

Our waitress asked if we wanted her to take our picture.  I guess she noticed me taking pics of everything else - lol!

This was a prop from the movie:

There are several shops along the street for browsing

The Mill
It's privately owned now.  The owner made a studio apartment on the top floor....I would love to see it!  It's situated next to the lake.

This is the pit where the famous bar-b-que was cooked in the movie

Not sure if this was a real grave or not?

They have live entertainment some days

Hee Haw!

So, if you're in Macon one day and want something a little different for lunch, just head east about 15 minutes to Juliette, Georgia and try some Fried Green Tomatoes!

I dearly love fried green tomatoes! I had to laugh--I think what you and your husband ordered would be just what my husband and I would order!

Happy Anniversary to you! A good marriage is definitely something to celebrate!
