Journey to Better Living UPDATE

It's been a while since I updated you on my journey to better health, so I thought I'd let you know how I'm doing.  In short.....I'm doing great!  I've lost 2 more pounds - without even trying.....took some vacation time after graduation so I haven't been pushing myself to exercise quite as much as I was.  Actually, in the last few weeks, I haven't pushed myself to do much of anything!  I really needed the time to relax and do some thinking and soul searching.  I have found that taking small breaks from rigorous exercising and cheating a little here and there with your diet can have a positive impact.  If we never treat ourselves or always feel guilty if we miss a workout, we will become a slave to that way of life....I don't wanna be a slave, do you?
I want to feel free!

I'm feeling GREAT - better than I've felt in YEARS!

And I owe it all to my decision to listen to my body and give it what it needs the natural way.
I continue to take the products suggested to me by my doctor - see here for the details - and I am getting results!  I've lost a total of 9 pounds (remember, I'm not trying to lose alot) and an unknown amount of body fat.  My clothes feel comfortable (some are too big...maybe a shopping trip should be in the works?) and I feel rested and at peace.  That means more to me than anything, I think.  Things can still sometimes bother me, but I'm able to handle the stresses of everyday life much better.

As far as the foods I'm eating, I kept experimenting and found some great gluten-free sandwich bread at Publix.  I like it much better than the other options I've had.

Udi's gluten free white sandwich bread

You can find it in the frozen foods.  Except for the crust, which is more like fresh baked bread, it's soft like regular bread and is great for a sandwich!  I was so glad to find a bread that is good for me without sacrificing to my sensitivity to wheat.

I also love this cereal: Cinnamon Chex

It's a sweetened rice cereal with real cinnamon, no artificial flavors or colors....and it's gluten free.  I also love the GF Rice Krispies I've been eating, but this gives me another alternative without having to add sugar...cause face it...Rice Krispies ain't good w/out plenty of sugar! LOL

These rice thins are also great with salad.

So, I continue to try to make healthier choices and to also take advantage of produce that's in season.  It's alot easier to eat healthy during the summer months, isn't it?  Scott planted me some watermelons in our garden, so I'm looking forward to enjoying a few of them soon as well.  Before long, we will have squash, tomatoes, and peppers and I'll also buy some peas to put in the freezer for the rest of the year.

I've not had any problems with my allergies this year.  It's still so hard for me to believe that, but it's true.  It's been so nice not having to take boxes of Kleenex with me everywhere - lol!

As far as exercising, my plans now are to do the core workout I did for 6 weeks, but instead of 4-5 times a week, I will probably do 2-3 and walk some in between.  I'll use the same JM video, but after this 6 week interval, I'll be looking for another of Jillian's workout videos to try.

Well, that's about it in a nutshell.  I'll be in touch :)
