Winter Vignettes

Well, I've had a very productive day today!  Not only did I get a start on my book, I got some reorganizing done around the house...and I got all the Christmas decorations packed up and ready to go back in the attic until next year.

It's always sad to me when the sparkle and shine of the Christmas decorations have to come down :(  So I had a thought...why not keep a little sparkle and shine around?  After all, winter is about shiny ice and snow and the magic of a winter wonderland (not that we have alot of that in the south, but I can pretend, can't I?).  So I decided to try my hand at a couple of winter vignettes.  I've seen other bloggers decorate like this and loved it.  I had so much fun brain storming and I'm pretty pleased with what I came up with for the first try.
This small table sits in a corner of my LR when you come in from the foyer.
My winter inspiration came from the "ice block" filled with lights.  It was given to me a few years ago for Christmas and it had a big red and gold bow around it.  I decided to keep it out year round and use if for a little extra lighting.  (I'm working on a silver bow for it now).

I also took all of the clear and silver balls off the Christmas tree as well as a few silver snow flakes and added them to a glass hurricane from a home interiors party.  A silver framed picture of my grandaddy in his classic light blue denim shirt and a blue candle complete the look.

Next, I did some rearranging in the pie safe in the breakfast room.

I already have pewter items in there, so I continued with the glass theme.
I added a candle in frosted berries to a small clear cake plate and a few other items.
I'll probably play with it a little more, but I certainly had fun playing around in my home today while reorganizing for the new year ahead.

I'm linking up with "Table Top Tuesday"

I love your "ice block" light and your pie safe with all the silver. Silver is my favorite and I love to look for it at Estate Sales. Happy 2012 XO Cindy

Lynn, I like this idea. I am decorating with some winter whites myself, and thinking of adding some shiny splashes of silver. Your looks beautiful. Thanks for the inspiration. I am wondering where this wildwood is? I have a beach house in North Wildwood N.J. Happy New Year to you.

Visiting from Stroll Thur Life...we won't take our decorations down until after celebrating the Epipany, but when they're all put away I always enjoy the "peace" that comes from the calmer decorating, such as what you've done. Very pretty. Nice to "meet" you. I invite you to visit me and follow if you'd like. ~Zuni
