Scripture Memorization

I love this saying posted above!  That sums it up for me.  I need to feel God's presence each day, guarding and guiding me in the right path.  I need to know He's there and to feel the comfort that only He can give.

But my big mouth gets in the way sometimes :0  Instead of listening to what God's trying to tell me, I'm too busy telling Him my "wish" list or my side of the story.  Sure...He wants to hear from me, but conversation goes both ways.  I also need to be a good listener.  Let's face it......Jesus has got some good stuff to say!

I've also been thinking alot lately about needing to guard my thoughts, which in turn will help control what comes out of my mouth.  I'm never at a loss for words, but sometimes I wish I was the "quiet" type and more laid back, thinking twice (even 3 times) before speaking.  I'm just not built that way.  But I want to be mindful of the effects my words can have - good or bad.  Words are so powerful!

So this is my first verse to memorize for the month of June:

"Set a guard over my mouth, Lord; keep watch over the door of my lips"

Psalm 141:3-4 NIV
