DIY Decorating

The study area I was creating for myself in our bedroom is almost complete!

Let me fill you in on my latest project.....

I needed a lamp for extra lighting while studying.  I found this one at a thrift store for $5.00, shade and all!   Well, actually, it was white when I bought it.  I sprayed it with the same SATIN Nickel spray that I used on the other lamps on our night stands and on the desk hardware.  I thought it needed a little something extra.....so I bought some ribbon the color of the curtains in the room and here it is:
For the wall above the desk, I knew I wanted a shelf, but couldn't find one.  My mama had one she wasn't using and I got it and sprayed it the same color as the desk.  I do ALOT of "window shopping" during my lunch break and found these two pictures for $5.00 each at a dollar store:
I thought they were perfect!

Here's a look at the pictures and shelf together:

(You can't really tell it here, but that in the middle of the shelf is a little bird who's made his nest inside an upside down sea shell.  Just a little something I came up with since I didn't have a bird nest handy :)

So now all I need to do is find a chair like I'm wanting.....and to add a photo to the frame on the desk.  All in all, I'm happy with how it turned out.  Total cost of this project was only around $50.00!  Not bad, right?  I'll be on the look out for a good deal on a chair too :)  Why spend more money than you have to?

It's nice to have a space of my own to keep all of my school books out of  sight when not in use and to have a quiet place for studying.  I'm still looking for bedding like I've got in mind, but haven't found it yet.  The next thing to do is get the bedroom furniture painted like the desk.  That will be a doozy, I'm sure!  But no worries....I've got the Mister to help me :)

Here's the details on the desk transformation: DIY Desk
