Election Day Drama

Ok. Right or wrong, I'm gonna do a post on ELECTIONS [gasp!]
I can't help myself! I've ALWAYS been fascinated by politics. I know political races can get ugly and the commercials will drive you bonkers! But face it...it's the American way! I take my rights very serious and I always go vote. Even if I think my man or woman hasn't got a chance, it's my voice that still counts. I think if you don't vote, you don't have the right to complain. End of subject! [Well, not really...I've got a little more to say]

See! Here's my proof I voted today [grin]

Even Lucy gets excited about watching the results come in with me!

Would you believe me if I told you that MANY years ago, I thought I wanted to be a politician's wife? I'm for real...not even a politician, but his wife! I guess I was young. Later on, I did think long and hard about it, but decided to pursue other things.

I had the privilege of being a Page at our State Capitol for our long time Representative, Mr. Newt Hudson! I was so excited! I really didn't know what to expect, but it was awesome!! My daddy and my oldest sister, Lisa went to Atlanta with me that weekend. Lisa even got to be a Page! I was chosen as a Wilcox County 4Her and made sure to wear a green suit that day. We felt so important! We could go anywhere in the Capitol that we wanted. That night for supper (hmmmm...I mean DINNER), we went to a fancy restaurant with Mr. Newt. I listened to my daddy talk 'politics' with the best of 'em. It was so interesting. I also campaigned for Mr. Newt and also for my grandfather, Harry Walker when he was a county commissioner. Great memories.....and even greater is the election night get- togethers watching the numbers come in! It's so exciting to see your person put in office and know that your hard work helped to make it happen. Too bad politicians don't come like they used to, like Mr. Newt and my Pepapa.
Well, I'm about to grab a cup of coffee and get glued to the television for a while to see results come in! I voted for the winners ;)
