Snowflakes Make Me Smile

Could it be? Might we actually get 3-5 inches of snow in Middle Georgia?! Oh the excitement! For those of you who see snow every year, you'll never understand how we feel in the South - hardly ever seeing it, much less making a snowman!

I guess we'll see what happens. It looks like our Saturday could be full of fun as we play in the white stuff! If we get enough, you'd be amused to see the ways we "country folks" can amuse ourselves - make-do snow sleds, miniature snowmen! LOL!

Seriously, I'm so relieved to have something to look forward to this weekend. It's been a long week...and I do mean LONG! I don't think I've ever cried so much.

I recently prayed and asked God to give me more of a heart for people, to really have compassion on them and see them with His eyes. Well, if you ever decide to pray that...get ready for the tears. I've cried my eyes out about everything from my son and his girlfriend breaking up (feeling the heartache they both experienced) to looking at a line of about 300 people waiting at a job fair to interview for possible jobs.

Our world is in such a mess! Everywhere we turn we see things to cause us to be discouraged and even depressed. But we do have hope in Jesus! I was reminded of that throughout the week as I prayed and studied His Word.

I think it's good that we see the reality of things...the reality of sin and how it has affected us and the world we live in. But the reality is also that we have a God who loves us unconditionally. He sees our hurt, disappointments, and frustrations - and He always finds a way to bring a smile to our faces again :)

Even the act of letting a little snow fall on a South Georgia community brings a smile to my face. It takes our focus off what's wrong and we find joy in something so simple as watching snowflakes fall from the sky. It's amazing to me that no two snowflakes are exactly alike. Of course, no two people are either. That's the beauty of it. It would be a boring world if we were all just alike.

Now that I think of it, it might be a boring world if we never walked in the valleys to learn to appreciate the mountaintops.

One thing's for sure....Jesus isn't boring! He'll take you on the wildest ride of your life!

Hope to post snow pics on here soon! Have a great weekend.
