Without Hope We Have Nothing

My heart is very heavy this morning. My cousin, who is about 6 months pregnant, had a 3D sonogram yesterday that confirmed 2 previous sonograms that there is a problem with her baby boy. The doctor told her yesterday that her baby boy has Spinabifida. He will require immediate surgery after birth to enclose the exposed portion of his spinal cord close to the tail bone. Although surgery can repair this part of the problem, the doctor told them that their baby would never crawl, walk, or speak due to the current condition pulling on the brain stem.

Normally, I wouldn't be so graphic because of sensitivity issues with the family, but I know there's got to be someone out there that's heard this before - only to see a healthy baby born. I know the doctor means well by being so direct - they have to know what to expect so they can be prepared. But what about hope?

My God is the Great Physician - the Master Healer. He can choose to heal Baby Logan at any moment. And even if He does not, the outcome can be far greater than anyone can believe at the moment.

My sister emailed me while ago. She too is very sad this morning, but like me, she has her hope renewed. When she got to work and looked at her inspiraitonal calendar, here's what it said: "Abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost!" Romans 15:13 The drought of despair is quenched by the tiniest drop of hope.

Please pray for Baby Logan, his mom, dad, and grandparents. There is power in prayer and we value it so much.

Hiya, all our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. May the Lord put his healing hand on your cousin's unborn baby, in Jesus name. Amen
