Answered Prayer

At the risk of sounding as if I am bragging, I wanted to share with all of you an answered prayer revealed to me last Friday morning. It was the last day of school, and I had arranged to be off work to go to the Honor's Program at the school and to just spend the afternoon with my son. I knew he was to receive a few awards for certain subjects, but I had no idea how well he had really done academically this year. I didn't keep running totals of his averages, but I did make a point to pray for him daily, that God would bless him in all areas of his school life. I'll never forget how nervous he was the first day of school. It was his first day of "Middle School" and his first day in a new school in a new town. I had spent so much time in prayer about whether or not he was ready to return to public school after two years of home schooling. Well, my prayers were definitely answered. Not only did he receive awards for every subject, he received a Presidential Award, award for top AR points, and the very coveted "Academic Representative". What made it even sweeter, is that his cousin was the other Academic Representative for their upcoming 9th Grade year! There were several other awards he received as well, but I almost fell out of my chair on the Academic Rep. announcement!

I don't know why, though. Isn't that what I prayed for? No, I didn't specifically ask God to give him certain awards. I just prayed for him to do well. He did better than I ever imagined. I have had so many teachers tell me throughout the school year that he is a joy to teach. He's a leader in the classroom and gets along well with everyone. His good example has even been an inspiratoin to a few of his peers.

God has blessed him so much and it is my prayer that he would continue to bless him and guide his steps. I want so much for him to be strong in his faith and to know who he is in Christ. The world will try to tell our children who they are, and if we don't take our job as parents seriously, our children will listen to what the world says. Never give up on your kids! God blessed us with them and they are truly his. We are just care givers for him on this earth.

May God bless each of you and your families.
